THIS CITY MY CITY RECAP

Ever wonder why sweat and soil make such good company for joy?

There’s something holy about working side by side—
pulling weeds, raking leaves, mowing lawns, crafting Mayflower baskets with care—and swapping stories in between the whir of weed whackers.

On May 3rd, Yakima Foursquare and Habitat for Humanity partnered up to visit a neighborhood in Yakima that needed support.

All around the neighborhood, people prayed. Some walked every block. Some paused to pray with neighbors face-to-face. One neighbor even grabbed his mower and jumped in—just because he saw something different happening and wanted to be a part of it.

And the kids?

They were all in—carefully placing gifts in baskets,
handing them out like tiny messengers of hope.

Neighborhood kids came out to play with our Yakima Foursquare crew—and when it was time to leave, they didn’t want us to go.

We left behind cleaner yards, full hearts, and little signs that someone cared enough to stop and stay awhile.

This is what happens when the Church shows up.

And we’re just getting started. Stay tuned for the next This City My City in the fall.
