What we believe
The same
yesterday,
today and
forever.
Everything here starts in one place and keeps coming back to it. Not a programme, not a personality, not a building. A person — who has not changed, and will not.
Hebrews 13:8

The Foursquare Gospel
Four things Jesus is.
Not four things we do.
The name on our building comes from these four. They are the shape of what we preach, and the reason we are part of the Foursquare movement.
01
Savior
Jesus died in our place and rose again. Salvation is his work, offered as a gift, received by trusting him. There is nothing to earn and nothing to prove.
Romans 10:9
02
Baptizer with
the Holy Spirit
The same Spirit who filled the first believers still fills ordinary people, for prayer, for holiness, and for the courage to speak. This isn't an extra. It's how the church has always worked.
Acts 2:4
03
Healer
Jesus still heals, in answer to prayer offered in faith and surrendered to God's will. We pray for people here, and we keep praying when the answer is slow.
James 5:14–15
04
Soon-Coming King
Jesus is coming back — personally, and not metaphorically. That hope is not an excuse to disengage. It's the reason the work matters now.
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
In our own words
What that means
on a Tuesday.
About the Bible
We read it as God's word and the final authority for what we believe and how we live — not a rulebook for winning arguments, but the place where God still speaks.
About people
Everyone is made in God's image. That includes the person you find hardest to be around, and it includes you on your worst day.
About questions
You don't have to believe all of this to walk in. Come anyway. Bring the hard questions with you — we would rather have them out loud.

The Declaration of Faith
All twenty-two,
in plain words.
Foursquare's Declaration of Faith was compiled by Aimee Semple McPherson and has held its shape ever since. Below is each article in everyday language. The full wording is linked underneath.
I
The Holy Scriptures
The Bible is God's inspired word and the final authority for what we believe and how we live.
II
The Eternal Godhead
There is one God, eternally Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
III
The Fall of Man
People were made good and in God's image, and chose sin. That choice reaches every one of us.
IV
The Plan of Redemption
Jesus took the place of sinners and carried the penalty we could not carry ourselves.
V
Salvation Through Grace
Salvation is God's gift. It cannot be earned by anyone, only received.
VI
Repentance and Acceptance
Turning from sin and trusting Christ brings forgiveness and peace with God.
VII
The New Birth
Coming to Christ is a real change, not a resolution — new life, new desires, a new direction.
VIII
Daily Christian Life
Growth is expected, and it is gradual. We keep becoming more like Jesus.
IX
Water Baptism and the Lord's Supper
Baptism by immersion pictures dying and rising with Christ. Communion remembers his body and blood, taken with honest self-examination.
X
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
The Spirit fills and empowers believers for prayer, holiness and witness, as he did at Pentecost.
XI
The Spirit-Filled Life
A life led by the Spirit shows up in how we treat people: patient, honest, loving.
XII
The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit
The Spirit gives gifts to build up the church, and grows fruit that shows he is at work.
XIII
Moderation
We avoid extremes. Christian life is marked by humility, forgiveness and good order.
XIV
Divine Healing
Jesus still heals, in answer to prayer offered in faith and surrendered to God's will.
XV
The Second Coming of Christ
Jesus is coming back, personally. We work faithfully until he does.
XVI
Church Relationship
Following Jesus is meant to be done with a local church, not alone.
XVII
Civil Government
Government is established by God and deserves our respect and our prayers, except where it asks us to disobey him.
XVIII
Judgement
Everyone will be raised and will stand before Christ.
XIX
Heaven
Heaven is God's dwelling and the believer's home — without sorrow, death or pain.
XX
Hell
Hell is the final reality for those who refuse Christ's offer of salvation.
XXI
Evangelism
Telling people about Jesus is the church's central work — here, and everywhere else.
XXII
Tithing and Offerings
Giving is God's ordained way of funding the work of his church.
The Foursquare movement
We're one church
among thousands.
Yakima Foursquare Church belongs to The Foursquare Church, a movement founded in 1923 that now spans more than a hundred and fifty countries. Worship styles differ enormously across it. The message doesn't.
Still have
questions?
Good. Ask them. A real person will answer — no script, no pressure, and no assumption that you've already made up your mind.
